Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra, a highly-rated and highly-functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The $1400 price tag might be difficult to swallow, however, it is usually on sale to make it more affordable. The unit is stunning and the base takes up small space in a corner.

The design of this robot addresses the issues we've faced with other robotic mops and vacuum units, including brushes that get caught in hair and the brush not being able to reach the bare flooring beneath furniture. The sweeping performance is impressive on carpets as well as bare flooring. The vacuum/mop features a high level debris pickup and the mop will quickly soak up flooring.

The mops also have a smart system to clean around the edges of furniture and around walls. The robot is able to avoid the bulkier obstacles like toys, food bowls, shoes, and backpacks without any difficulty. But it can become stuck or become entangled with smaller and more compact objects, such as shoelaces USB cables and pens.

robot vacuum cleaner cheap  used this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR carpet and hardwood floors within a large, open floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it cleaned and mopped the 90m2 area in about 170 minutes, which is close to the average for Gen 4.

Miele Scout RX3

Miele is not a slouche in the world of robotic vacuuming and is renowned for quality and technological innovation. This new model aims to take it to the next level by incorporating smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.

The RX3 features a dual-suction technology and intelligent mapping that incorporates 3D mapping and camera that transmits live images to your smartphone. Its powerful four-stage cleaning system offers excellent dust pickup on hard and carpet flooring, while the intuitive swing-out side brushes and dual suction channels remove dust from corners. Its 8.5 cm height allows it to reach under low furniture. Front cameras and infrared sensor aid in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstacles with ease.

The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it cleaned baking powder around baseboards and corners. Its suction was less powerful than the other robots, however it was still very quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop however and its cleaning pads were a bit difficult to attach and didn't deal with dirt that had dried on.

Its app is a little on the basic side with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It is compatible with Alexa but its voice controls aren't clear or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it returns to the charging station following a run. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow an earlier route however, the RX3 stumbles around until it finally gives up.

Another issue we had was with its intelligent features, specifically the mapping function and the digital keep-out zones. It was effective in keeping our shoes and furniture legs away, but it was easily caught on cables, socks and rug. We didn't include the Scout RX3 on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth looking into as an alternative to traditional uprights.
